10/31/2022 0 Comments Mytime presbyterianImmediately following the 10am worship service, there will be a Congregational Meeting (in person or on Zoom) where one of the items of business will be a vote of the congregation on my candidacy.Īs a preview of what you may hear at the Town Hall meeting on Saturday, below is a brief biography of my time in ministry: You can participate in the Town Hall in-person or online via We hope you will join us on Saturday for the Town Hall meeting, and again on Sunday where I will preach at both the 8:30am and 10:00am worship services. #MYTIME PRESBYTERIAN FULL#I love teamwork and collaboration, and I am excited to begin engaging with these teams, the staff, and the entire congregation as we move forward with full confidence in Jesus, the author and sustainer of our faith and of the story of this beautiful church. This weekend I have the honor to be presented to you by the Session of First Presbyterian Church for election as your next called and installed Associate Pastor.Īs part of this process, on Saturday, February 26 from 3pm-4pm Pastor Neff will host a Town Hall meeting in our sanctuary where he asks me questions that all of you have submitted over the last few weeks. God has wired people with incredible gifts, and many of them are willing and able to serve in a big way right now. This church is filled with amazing talent. God is reminding me that the body is not one member, but many in Christ. Lately, I’ve been spending my time gathering all the co-chairs for the seven committees of the transition team. This season of transition is about much more than finding the right person to lead-it is about fulfilling God’s mission for CPC. I’m excited now to see the unfolding of God’s plan for CPC. God has blessed this church mightily over the last sixty years with incredible resources, including two strong, faithful senior pastors, amazing lay leaders, and a congregation committed to serving Jesus locally and all over the world. What excites you about the future of CPC? The elders most recently asked me to chair the Transition Team. I enjoy interacting with staff, praying for them, and building them up in any way I can. This is my second year, and I’m on the Personnel Committee. I’m also using my gifts to coach and mentor young women. As I was leaving TreeHouse in 2016, I really felt God prompting me to work with other nonprofits to help them develop their strategy and the funds they need to do their mission, so I’ve been consulting. It was a blessing to use the skills I had honed over the years to lead, develop, and empower my staff to live out their passions. In 2006 I was lucky enough to change careers and find a new place to lead-TreeHouse. This enabled me to live out my passion to help other people develop their own God-given skills and talents. In my career in the financial services industry, I strategically and collaboratively led both divisions and companies. How do you feel God has enabled you to use your passions and gifts? I’m so grateful that Jesus is the center of my life. That was about the same time we came to CPC, and we found such rich teaching here. I just felt so convicted and I began the journey of turning my life toward Jesus. A turning point for me was when I started BSF and my first study was on Romans. We got very plugged in, but our faith was mostly service-based and still lacked a personal relationship with Christ. Then when we had our first child, like many people, we went back to church. I went through my early adulthood drifting a little bit. I thought about Jesus, but I didn’t know I should seek a relationship with Him. Church was our second home, but we actually knew the hymnals better than we knew the Bible. I grew up in a family that definitely believed in God, but I felt we went to church mostly because my mom was the church organist. Tell us a little bit about your faith journey. 10/31/2022 0 Comments Painkiller cocktailFrom this modest beginning, the fame of the Pusser’s Painkiller® has spread throughout the boating and sailing communities of the Caribbean and the U.S., and is probably the most popular mixed rum drink amongst sailors today in the West Indies. But he always gives Daphne Henderson credit with a by-line in Pusser’s printed media: AS INSPIRED BY DAPHNE AT THE SOGGY DOLLAR BAR AT WHITE BAY ON JOST VAN DYKE. Soon after, Tobias started promoting the Pusser’s Painkiller™ in the two Pusser’s bars he had at that time on Tortola. Tobias took payment on the bet in the form of 40 Painkillers which the crowd all drank to celebrate the occasion. Of course, he hadn’t, and vehemently denied her charges. She humorously insisted that somehow Tobias paid everybody off to win. Tobias’s recipe won 10 out of 10 taste-tests! They preferred his version to hers. They marked the cups and proceeded to test. Tobias ordered two rounds: one that Daphne made, and one that he made to his recipe. There were about ten patrons around the bar. Tobias accepted, and the bet was on for $100. Understandably, she insisted that hers was better and challenged him to a contest. Tobias discerned a slight difference, but thought his mixture better, not quite so sweet as hers, and told her so. “Wait and see,” he told her, and in a few minutes, he mixed one of his and started to taste it against hers. “If you’ve got it, what do you need anything from me for?” she replied smiling as she continued to josh Tobias about my not being able to come even close. Shaking the water off after his swim ashore, Tobias announced to Daphne Henderson that I’d finally broken her secret, “At last, Daphne, I have the Painkiller™ recipe which I promise to not divulge to anyone if you tell me that I’m right,” he said. The following Sunday, Tobias returned to the Soggy Dollar Bar for another afternoon of West Indian food, Painkillers and swimming. There he went to work, trying to match her flavor as closely as possible with his own recipe which he finally worked out to be “4-1-1” ratio – four parts pineapple, one part cream of coconut and one part orange juice – adding Pusser’s Rum to suit. Two years passed, then late one Sunday afternoon at the conclusion of a long session of Painkilling, Tobias somehow managed to get one of her concoctions back through the surf and over the gunwale into his boat, and ultimately into his kitchen on Tortola where he lives. The fact that Tobias had gone to Great Britain’s Royal Navy and gotten permission to commercialize the rum in 1980 made him more curious about this deliciously concocted recipe made with Pusser’s Rum.ĭaphne Henderson and Charles Tobias became good friends, but in spite of their friendship, and no matter how hard he tried, she refused to divulge her secret recipe for the Pusser’s Painkiller™. Boaters, including Pusser’s founder Charles Tobias, came from all around to sample her tasty Pusser’s Painkiller™ for which she’d become locally famous. Of course, your dollars get wet – hence the name: Soggy Dollar Bar.When all this started, the bar with its four adjoining cottages was owned by an English lady, Daphne Henderson. There’s no dock, so the usual way in is to swim. The infamous Pusser’s Painkiller™ had its start at the six-seat Soggy Dollar Bar on a long stretch of white sand beach at White Bay on the island of Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. You have a choice of numbers 2, 3 or 4, which designate the amount of Pusser’s Rum! Cheers! The Pusser’s Painkiller™ is a blend of Pusser’s Rum with 4 parts pineapple juice, 1 part cream of coconut and 1 part orange juice served on the rocks with a generous amount of fresh nutmeg on top. The Infamous Pusser’s Painkiller™ The drink we are known for throughout the West Indies, in the U.S. That attention turned to controversy after The New York Times detailed tenants’ gripes in a February story titled “The Downside to Life in a Supertall Tower: Leaks, Creaks, Breaks.”ĭespite the building’s reported issues and the board’s subsequent legal action, the condo tower has remained popular with wealthy clientele, according to recent sales and agents who previously told The Real Deal the controversies haven’t hurt interest in available units. The filing is the latest for the closely watched skyscraper, which opened in 2015 to much interest in its striking design and sky-high price points. As a result, the developer says, the complaint should be dismissed. THE DOWNSIDE SUPERTALL LEAKS CREAKS BREAKS CODEHowever, CIM claimed the board repeatedly prevented the developer “from accessing the building and finishing the job.” The firm also took issue with the board’s “an ever-increasing list of demands,” the majority of which were not required under the building’s design, code or governing legal document. “Of course, like any other skyscraper, 432 Park’s sophisticated symphony of systems needed to be fine-tuned when residents began to move into the building,” the developer said. Most NYC supertall residences reportedly lack final safety certifications.Vornado’s 220 Central Park South approaches $3B in total sales.432 Park Avenue is doing just fine, thanks. The suit said the building’s movement caused overwhelming noise and floods from defective plumbing caused damage in 35 units and common areas. Residents said on several occasions they were trapped in elevators for hours after the building’s sway caused them to stall. The board alleges a variety of problems with the building, including “life safety” issues. In its filing, CIM said the building was “without a doubt, safe” and called its “amenities, features, fixtures and finishings … the pinnacle of luxury.” Harry Macklowe, CIM’s co-developer on the building, did not file a response. The lawsuit raised eyebrows because it escalated previously reported complaints over a wide range of issues with the building’s design and construction. The damages claim is based on approximately 1,500 construction and design problems found by an engineering firm the board hired to inspect the building. The board sued the developers of the Billionaires’ Row tower in September for issues related to flooding, broken elevators, noise from the building’s sway and a June electrical explosion. In legal documents filed in New York Supreme Court Wednesday, the developer called the board’s lawsuit “ill-advised” and dismissed it as a “publicity campaign.” CIM Group principal Shaul Kuba, Macklowe Properties Chief Executive Officer Harry Macklowe and 432 Park Ave (432 Park Avenue, CIM Group, Getty Images)ĭeveloper CIM Group hit back at an explosive lawsuit from the condo board at 432 Park Avenue, its luxury supertall where residents have alleged widespread construction defects. 10/31/2022 0 Comments Daily expense trackerIf you want to personalize your tracking and you like using Excel, try this comprehensive expense category Excel worksheet. 10/31/2022 0 Comments Auto chess bishop lobbiesPuns about chess, chess pieces, playing chess and anything related to chess can be greatly enjoyed over a game of chess with your mates. Similarly, ever since language came into being, puns have also been extensively used as a form of expression or emphasis. The game of chess has been around ever since the seventh century and is played by millions of people worldwide in this era. Both fall under the category of recreational but brain-boosting games that are good for both the mind and the soul. To play chess and make punny humor about it requires a certain level of intelligence and knowledge about both the game and a good understanding and grasp of vocabulary. Punny humor and a game of chess have one thing in common, and that is intelligence.
